The Venue

All the events will take place at Villa Pitiana, located in the Tuscan countryside. Accommodations for the weekend will also be at the Villa. Although the wedding events start on Friday, September 5, we have blocked off rooms starting on Thursday, September 4 to allow guests to arrive at the Villa early and settle in before the festivities begin. Please let us know if you are arriving Thursday or Friday when you RSVP!

The Villa is located about 50 minutes away from Florence airport. More details on transportation can be found in the Travel section below!

Getting There
By Flight
The closest airport to Villa Pitiana is Florence Peretola Airport (FLR), located 50 km (50 min) away. You can also fly into Pisa's Galileo Galilei International Airport (PSA), which is located 125 km (1 hour and 30 min) away.

The best way to get from the airport to the Villa would be to rent a car or take a taxi. We will also plan to provide a shuttle on Thursday from FLR to Villa Pitiana, and on Sunday from Villa Pitiana to FLR. If you know your arrival or departure times, please let us know so that we can time the shuttles accordingly.

Please see the Q&A section for details on visa requirements!
By Train
If you are planning on traveling around Italy/Europe, getting to the venue by train is also a good option! To get to Villa Pitiana from Florence, you can either take the T2 tram from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station to get to the airport (and then take our arranged shuttle to Villa Pitiana), or take a Regional train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station to Sant'Ellero station. Villa Pitiana is a 10 minute taxi from this station, and please let us know in advance if you are planning to arrive this way so we can arrange a pick up.
By Car
If you are planning on renting a car, there is plenty of parking space at Villa Pitiana!

Things to do
There's no shortage of things to see in Italy. However, here are a few highlights from our most recent trip to the Tuscan region.
Florence
Florence is best known as the birthplace of the Renaissance. The city is rich in art and architecture and is home to many masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Botticelli. The Duomo (pictured here) is iconic and a true masterpiece. We enjoyed wandering through the city, exploring its many plazas, walking across the Ponte Vecchio, and taking in the beautiful views from Piazzale Michelangelo.

Tuscan countryside
If you enjoy wine and beautiful medieval towns, the Tuscan countryside is the place to be! During our time in Tuscany, we explored the Chianti region, which offers so much to do—wine tastings, cycling tours, and cooking classes, to name just a few. While having a car is ideal for truly exploring the area, many of the larger towns are also connected by train.
Cinque Terre
Probably Shikha's favorite part of our recent trip to Italy, Cinque Terre is a string of five fishing villages along the Ligurian coast. Think of it as a more rugged version of the Amalfi Coast—equally beautiful, but with a wilder charm. The villages are connected by train (cars are only allowed in one of them!) or by a stunning coastal hiking trail. In fact, the area offers plenty of hiking options for all levels. We stayed in Monterosso as our home base and hiked between the different villages during our time here.
